Since the very first Bedside Magic show, Bring Magic has had one mission: to make sure kids facing a hospital get a moment to laugh and experience joyful wonder. Laughter really is the best medicine, and we believe that magic – directly in a child’s hands – can transform the hospital experience and help a kid heal.
Our mission to bring magic to more kids, more hospitals, and more cities, continues to build and grow every year.
Every Volunteer Specialist who walks into a hospital room goes through a rigorous training. These are not normal volunteers or typical magicians. Bring Magic Magicians are screened. trained, and certified to meet a child exactly where they are in the hospital – whether a child is in protective isolation, or a teenager is drained from ongoing treatment, or a toddler is terrified about about what’s coming through her door next. Our volunteers are able to reach and connect with kids in critical need. We help give kids their magic back.
That’s the goal. Every visit. Every child.
Volunteer Specialists are prepared to work independently at hospital bedsides. Hospital frontlines are always a challenging and unique environment. So every volunteer must complete Magic University before working in a hospital room. This training goes beyond the magic – building confidence through learning what children go through, how to navigate strict hospital protocols, and understanding how to read and adapt in any situation.
Bring Magic exists thanks to long-standing partnerships at some of the top children’s hospitals in Chicago, Cleveland, and Ann Arbor. A hospital-first program, Bring Magic has developed this unique approach to help kids with the guidance of top Child Life leaders to ensure that our Volunteer Specialists are prepared and trusted to work both independently and alongside frontline care teams.

Bring Magic volunteers transform hospital rooms for kids. Last month, over 750 kids found a reason to laugh and smile in the hospital. They were given permission to stop being a patient and start being a kid. And it all happened because of a generous donor who believes in magic.
